The Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA) has announced the commencement of the 2026 FCT FA Women’s Inter Area Council Football Tournament, scheduled to kick off in grand style on Friday, August 21, 2026, by 10am at a designated centre in the Federal Capital Territory.
The annual tournament which brings together female football talents from the six Area Councils of the FCT, is designed to provide a competitive platform for young women to showcase their abilities while creating a pathway for the discovery, development and promotion of promising footballers.
The ceremonial kick off of the 2026 edition will be performed by the Chairman of the FCT Football Association, Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed with football stakeholders, government representatives, coaches, officials, dignitaries and supporters expected to grace the occasion.
The tournament forms part of the FCT FA’s commitment to strengthening women’s football at the grassroots and ensuring that talented female players from across the Territory have access to meaningful competitive football and the exposure required to advance their careers.
With the six Area Councils divided into two groups, Group A comprises Bwari, Gwagwalada and AMAC, while Group B features Abaji, Kuje and Kwali.
The group stage will be played on a home and away basis, with each council getting the opportunity to test its strength against the other teams in its group.
The best performing teams will progress to the knockout stage, culminating in the grand finale on September 5.
