Terrorists kill vigilante, abduct woman, son in Kaduna
Bandits have killed a local vigilante and abducted a woman and her son during an attack in Kyauta, Millennium City, Kaduna state.
The vigilante, identified as Mustapha Baba, was shot by the attackers and later died while receiving treatment at Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital, Kaduna.
His brother, Yusuf Baba, confirmed the incident in a social media post, saying the attack occurred on Wednesday night.
According to him, the bandits stormed a house close to the Mai-Rago Friday Mosque and demanded to see the owner.
The attackers, however, reportedly abducted the man’s wife and son after they could not find him.
The incident is the latest in a series of attacks reported in Kyauta and other communities within Millennium City.
In a separate incident, five residents were reportedly abducted during an attack on the Police Estate in Baban Saura.
The development comes amid renewed calls by residents for improved security and road infrastructure in Millennium City.
At a recent security meeting, residents appealed to the Kaduna state government and security agencies to improve road access to parts of the community to enhance security operations and emergency response.
Chairman of the Millennium City Security, Development and Enhancement Forum and Katukan Danhonu Community, Alhaji Abu Mohammed, said the completion of the Eastern Bypass road project, including the bridge, should be treated as a priority.
He said the abandoned road project had affected the ability of security agencies to respond effectively to security threats in the area.
The stakeholders urged the Federal Government to expedite work on the Eastern Bypass and complete the bridge to improve accessibility and facilitate the movement of security and heavy-duty vehicles.
They also called for the deployment of additional police and military personnel and provision of sophisticated security equipment to strengthen security operations and protect residents.
As the time of filing this report, neither the state government nor security agencies have issued a statement regarding the incident.
