The Ngazargamu Emirate Council has announced the passing of His Royal Highness, the Mai Ngazargamu, Alhaji Tijjani Ibn Saleh Geidam, who died in Egypt after a prolonged illness.
In an official statement issued by the Waziri of Ngazargamu, Alhaji Muhammad Alamai Baba Kankare, the Emirate Council expressed profound sorrow over the demise of the revered traditional ruler, describing his death as a monumental loss to the emirate, Yobe State, and the traditional institution in Nigeria.
The statement noted that the late monarch passed away on Monday while receiving medical treatment in Egypt.
According to the council, arrangements are underway to transport the remains of the late Emir back to Nigeria for funeral rites in Damaturu. The date and time of the burial will be announced later, according to the statement.
The Emirate Council called on the people of the emirate, Yobe State, and Nigerians at large to pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased ruler, who was widely respected as a custodian of the rich history, culture, and traditions of the historic Ngazargamu Emirate.
The council described the late Mai Ngazargamu as a leader who devoted his life to the service of his people and the preservation of the emirate’s cultural heritage.
“Kullu Nafsin Za’ikatul Maut” (Every soul shall taste death), the statement quoted, while praying that Almighty Allah grants the departed monarch Aljannatul Firdaus and gives his family, the Emirate Council, and the entire people of Ngazargamu the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
