Yobe Police Arrest 4 Suspected Criminals, Recover Items

…Alongside 80-year-old accomplice

The Yobe State Police Command has recorded another operational breakthrough with the arrest of four suspects in separate cases involving theft, assault and criminal conspiracy leading to the recovery of stolen items.

Dungus Abdulkareem, the PPRO of the Command said in a statement that on 2nd August, 2026, at about 15:30hrs, a case of theft causing hurt was reported at ‘A’ Division, Damaturu with preliminary investigation revealing that a 35-year-old suspect allegedly stole a goat at the Sunday Market, Damaturu, and while attempting to escape, an 80-year-old accomplice allegedly assaulted the complainant with a stick, inflicting injuries to his back head.

Upon receipt of the report, operatives swiftly visited the scene, arrested both suspects and recovered the stolen goat together with the stick used in the assault as exhibits. Investigation is ongoing.

In a separate development, on 1st August, 2026, at about 11:00hrs, a complaint of criminal conspiracy and theft involving building materials valued at approximately ₦2.5 million was reported to the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).

Acting promptly on credible information, operatives launched an intensive investigation which led to the recovery of building materials worth approximately ₦1.5 million.

The operation further resulted in the arrest of three suspects who were found in possession of the stolen materials after allegedly receiving and dealing in the items. The recovered materials have been secured as exhibits, while efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining items and conclude the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, psc, mspsp, SM.ICM, directed for immediate investigation into both cases be concluded diligently and that all those found culpable be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He further reiterates the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, amurging members of the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information capable of preventing and combating crime throughout Yobe State.
