Yobe Constitutes Local Development Council Areas Tech Committee

In a bid to bring government to the doorsteps of the masses, with the aim of enhancing more development and increased access to the participation of the electorate, Yobe State Government, which is always listening to the yearnings and aspirations of its people, has approved of a technical committee for the establishment of Local Development Area Councils (LDCAs).

A statement by Hussaini Mai Suleh, the Press Secretary to the Yobe State Deputy Governor said that His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Dr. Mai Mala Buni, has approved the constitution of a technical committee with His Excellency, the Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune) as chairman.

Membership of the committee include: The Speaker, Yobe State House of Assembly; Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs;
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance;
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice; Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission; Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transport and Energy; Permanent Secretary, Political; Special Adviser to HE on Security Matters; Director General, YOGIS;
Chairman, ALGON, Yobe State Chapter; Chairman, Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers; Barrister Bakura Ba’aba; Acting Secretary to the State Government is to serve as Secretary of the committee.

The committee is to undertake a comprehensive study and provide objective recommendations for the establishment of Local Development Area Councils in the state.

The committee will soon swing into action to provide legal, administrative, institutional, financial and developmental implications to the proposal, drawing on national best practices and relevant constitutional provisions. Its recommendations are expected to provide government with an evidence-based framework for informed policy consideration.

The establishment of the committee highlights the Yobe State Government’s commitment to strengthening grassroots governance through inclusive consultation, rigorous technical analysis and adherence to due process in public policy formulation.
