Police Nabs 47 For Banditry, Other Crimes In Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has has arrested 47 suspects for various criminal activities including banditry, armed robbery and motorcycle snatching in the state.
Briefing journalists on Monday at the Command’s Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammed Hadejia said the 47 suspects were arrested at various locations within and outside Kebbi.
He said “these arrests reflect the dedication of our operatives, the effectiveness of joint security operations and support of the people in the communities.”
The Command, however used the opportunity to call on all commercial motorcycles operators to desist from conveying suspicious persons or group of people to strange or isolated areas or destinations as that has become a common tactics used by criminals to snatch motorcycles or kidnapping,” he added.
CP Hadejia further disclosed that various items were recovered from the arrested criminals which include 40 stolen GSM phones along with SIM cards, 1,229 rounds of live AK-47 amunition, 29 rounds of machine gun amunition, 40 live cartridges, 16 rounds of baretta pistol amunition, and empty AK-47 magazines.
Other items include seven recovered motorcycles, herds of rustled cattles, 33 recovered cows, plus 15 additional stolen motorcycles already released to their proven owners.
The police boss therefore urged motorcycle riders or owners to report any unusual request made by unfamiliar person to the nearest Police Station.
