KANO: NSSF charges Schools On Sportsmanship As Nestle Milo Basketball Begins

The President of the Nigerian Schools Sports Federation NSSF, Mrs Olabisi Joseph has charged participants of this year’s Inter-Secondary Schools Basketball Championship tagged: Savannah Conference in Kano to exhibit sportsmanship aimed at ensuring the success of the tournament.

The President who spoke through the Federation’s Secretary General, Dr Oba Funsho Usman gave the charge during a pre-match and technical meeting held at the Indoor Sports Hall of Sani Abacha Sports Complex, Kofar Mata in Kano.

She explained that the competition being sponsored by the Nestle Milo company for over almost three decades, has produced many basketball stars who are currently playing in various clubs in Europe and other countries.

The President further said that the meeting and the screening exercise of both boys and girls is to ensure the eligibility of the players.

While expressing gratitude to the state government for their support to the growth of basketball across the country, she assured that the NSSF will continue to do their best especially in promoting and development of various sporting activities as well as guiding the pupils academically.

Earlier in the opening matches, Ahmadiyya College, Kano defeated Government Girls Secondary School Garki, Jigawa State 31-04 points while Government Girls Secondary school Yola, Adamawa State lost 09-15 points to Government Girls College, Bauchi in the girls category.

More matches continued on Friday in both boys and girls categories at the same venue.
