Iran Has Ballistic Missiles, Can Mine Strait, Houthis, Hezbollah, Hamas Could Rejoin The War — Pompeo
Former Secretary of State and Fox News contributor Mike Pompeo strongly criticized proposed diplomatic agreements involving Iran, arguing that diplomatic paperwork will fail to lower global gas prices or curb ongoing instability across the Middle East.
Speaking in an interview on Fox News, on Friday, September 25, 2026, Pompeo expressed deep skepticism over the economic and geopolitical benefits of potential agreements with Tehran.
Addressing suggestions that diplomatic deals with Iran could stabilize energy markets, Pompeo argued that persistent regional security threats would prevent any drop in fuel costs.
“Well, here’s the thing. I think if that deal went through, I don’t think gas prices would be lowered because the threat to the Gulf States, the threat to Israel, would continue to be there,” Pompeo said.
Pompeo highlighted the capabilities and active regional presence of Iran and its allied proxy networks, pointing out that military threats in crucial maritime and regional zones remain active regardless of formal talks.
“They still have remembrance of a ballistic missile program. They still have capacity to mine the strait. The Houthis are still running wild. Hezbollah in Lebanon would rejoin the fight, as would the Palestinians in Gaza, Hamas and Gaza,” he added.
Concluding his assessment, the former Secretary of State questioned the authority and legitimacy of those representing the Iranian delegation, warning that agreement documents hold little real-world value given the power structure inside Tehran.
“This is not the kind of thing that’s going to be resolved by a piece of paper presented by someone who’s completely irrelevant inside the Iranian decision making,” Pompeo stated.
