I Left PDP To APC, It Was Like Running From Crocodile To Jump Into Shark, They Showed Me “Shege” – Senator Abbo

Senator Elisha Abbo, the Labour Party governorship candidate in Adamawa State, has likened his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to running away from a crocodile only to jump into the hands of sharks.

Abbo made the remark while recounting his political journey during an interview on Arise News on Friday, September 4, 2026.

The former senator said his exit from the PDP followed a disagreement with the governor of Adamawa State, barely three months after he assumed office as a senator.

“I left the PDP because I was first elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the PDP, 3 months into power, I fell out with my governor for obvious reasons which I know I’m right and he knows he is wrong, but he had to defend himself,” Abbo said.

He explained that the political disagreement prompted him to leave the PDP and join the APC in search of a new political platform.

However, according to Abbo, his experience in the APC proved to be another difficult chapter in his political career.

“And I joined the APC so it was like jumping out from frying pan to fire. And it was like trying to run away from crocodile and you are jumping into sharks and they showed me shege promax,” he said.

Abbo used the analogy to describe his experience after leaving the PDP, suggesting that his move to the APC did not provide the political relief he had hoped for.

The Labour Party governorship candidate said he initially entered the Senate on the PDP platform before his relationship with the Adamawa governor deteriorated.

According to him, both men held different positions over the issues that caused their disagreement, although he maintained that he believed he was right while the governor defended his own position.
