Emir of Gwandu in Kebbi State, Alhaji Muhammed Iliyasu Bashar has advocated tolerance as the only tool for leadership. He made the assertion on Friday during a press briefing at his Palace in Birnin Kebbi to mark his 21st year anniversary on the throne.

The monarch stressed that tolerance is the only weapon for any leader to be applied in leading or governing people, associations, at the local or state level.

He noted that in all the successes he recorded in his life over the last 80 years as a soldier and 21 years as Emir of Gwandu was as a result of the total tolerance he exhibited against challenges.

Emir Bashir, however urged present political leaders to learn how to tolerate one another in the course of governance.

“Let me make it clear that leadership is all about tolerance before success comes, and as such I’m advising all, particularly political office holders: Chairmen, Commissioners, Advisers, Governors, Ministers, Traditional Rulers and the President to exercise patience with the people they govern,” the emir added.
