A pro-democracy group under agies of GOODLUCK NIGERIA MOVEMENT (GNM) has announced plans to storm the street with 200 million Nigerians to rally to persuade former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to contest as Presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.

Though the date is yet to announced but the rally is planned to hold simultaneously across the states of the federation including the federal capital territory, Abuja

National Chairman of GNM, Chief Diekivie Ikiogha, said Jonathan was chosen because he has nothing to prove but everything to offer, adding that the political group was the voice of the hungry, the hope of the unemployed, and the protector of our democracy.

Speaking after the inauguration of leaders of the political group, which elected Chief Robert Azibato as National Secretary, and ‎Dr. Derek Omoleh, as the Director of Strategic Communications, Ikiogha called on Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora who believes in a brighter future to join the movement.

‎”Nigeria is suffering, and we cannot look away. The Goodluck Nigeria Movement is the voice of the hungry, the hope of the unemployed, and the protector of our democracy.

“We have chosen Dr. Goodluck Jonathan because he has nothing to prove but everything to offer. The movement starts today; the rescue is certain.

“The era of “Goodluck” is not just a memory; it is our path forward. It is not a campaign but a reality. In the next few days, the entire Nigerian media space, communities and the international community will be fully abreast with the operations of the Goodluck Nigeria Movement,” he stated.

While speaking, the Director of Strategic Communications, Dr Derek Omoleh stated in a press release in Uyo that the movement was a national rescue mission designed to bring back Jonathan, a leader who symbolizes Nigeria’s last period of true prosperity.

Omoleh explained that Jonathan’s return will heal a nation in crisis, adding that the former President has the right temperament, proven track record, experience and compassion to bring Nigeria out of its current economic and political turmoil.

‎”Nigeria does not need an apprentice; it needs an experienced leader. The GNM believes that Dr. Jonathan is the only leader with the right temperament, proven track record, experience and compassion to guide the country through the current economic and political turmoil.

“We remember when Nigeria was the pride of Africa—the largest economy, a hub for global investment, and a place where dreams were affordable. That was the “Jonathan era.

‎”During this time of division, Dr. Jonathan remains the only person who can stay calm amid the chaos and bring peace. His “Peace First” philosophy is what our democracy urgently needs. Recall his historic speech, “my ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian,” he stated.

The group recalled that as former president, Jonathan brought about economic restoration in the North and South, adding that his return would mean ‘a swift return to policies that benefit the masses instead of just the elites’.
