According to a report by TeamTalk on Monday September 28, 2026, Rumor has it that Arsenal and Real Madrid are interested in signing Manchester City’s prolific striker Erling Haaland if the club is relegated as a result of the ongoing Financial Fair Play case.
In a recent ruling, Manchester City was found guilty of 114 charges related to Financial Fair Play violations that occurred between 2009 and 2018. The club plans to file an appeal, but the final penalty is still up in the air.
The consequences that City may face are substantial. The club could face relegation from England’s top division if they incur a significant points deduction, or even Premier League expulsion, according to reports.
If City are relegated, there have been rumors that the English Football League might not even let them play in the Championship or lower divisions. In such a case, the current kings of English football could find themselves precipitously demoted.
Several important players may reevaluate their futures with City if they are relegated from the Premier League. According to reports, Arsenal and Real Madrid have already contacted Haaland’s representatives in regards to a potential transfer. He is widely considered to be the most prominent player available.
