Kebbi Sets July 27 For Mass Wedding Of 600 In Birnin Kebbi

Kebbi State government, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady, is set July 27th, 2026 to marry-off 600 in a mass wedding. Chairman of the main organising committee of the mass wedding, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammed Argungu, Jarman Kabi announced this on Tuesday to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
He said committees have been appointed for the successful conduct of the mass wedding which are categorised on orphans, widows and the vulnerable who are in need of marriage.
Argungu further said that based on the committees reports, the couples comprised of 300 males and 300 females, drawn from the 225 wards across the 21 Local Government areas of the state.
He noted that the beneficiaries had undergone test at various hospitals to ascertain their health conditions, while the dowry of N250,000 would be paid by the government to each of the 300 brides according to Islamic rites during the wedding.
“The initiative is part of the Kaura-led administration’s people oriented government of taking care of its citizens,” said Argungu.
