Ahead of the 2027 general elections, members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kebbi State chapter have offered prayers for Governor Nasir Idris to emerge victorious.
The prayers were offered on Saturday night at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State capital.
Leading the prayers, the state’s CAN Chairman, Bishop Ayuba Kanta Yafi alongside members of the association across the 21 Local Government areas of the state sought the intervention of “the Lord Jesus Christ for Governor Nasir Idris to clinch his second term in 2027”.
Bishop Kanta further declared that the Lord has answered their prayers and assured that Governor Idris will return as governor come 2027.
The CAN chairman, however, commended Governor Nasir Idris for supporting the christian communities through intervention, including the provision of land and financial assistance to the association’s members during the festive periods as well as the compilation of CAN secretariat projects.
He also commended the contribution of the state Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arc. Sani Aliyu in solving crisis concerning religious matters.
Bishop Kanta further expressed delight at the various developmental projects executed by the Kaura-led administration, particularly Koko- Mahuta-Dabai road which was abandoned by the past administrations.
He called on Governor Idris to sustain the relationship of all religious organisations for unity and harmony.
Governor Nasir Idris thanked the CAN members for their prayers, noting that the prayers came at the right time when the politicians are seeking for elective offices.
He promised to continue to uphold cordial relationship between the government and religious groups.
