2018: If You Observe, One Of The Periods Buhari Admin Got Applause Was When Osinbajo Acted – Dahiru

Security analyst Majeed Dahiru has said one of the periods when the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari received significant public applause for taking the right actions was when former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo acted as president.

Dahiru made the remark during an interview on AIT News on Monday, August 31, 2026, while discussing Osinbajo’s handling of power whenever Buhari travelled and handed over authority to him.

According to the security analyst, Nigerians appeared to appreciate some of the decisions taken by the Buhari administration during periods when Osinbajo was acting president.

“If you observe clearly, one of the periods in Nigeria when the Buhari administration got alot of applause from the public for doing the right thing was when Osinbajo acted.”

Dahiru’s comments came as he reflected on the role Osinbajo played during the Buhari administration and some of the actions taken when he assumed the responsibilities of the president.

Osinbajo served as vice president throughout Buhari’s eight-year administration and occasionally acted as president when Buhari travelled outside Nigeria.

During some of those periods, Osinbajo took major decisions on behalf of the administration, including decisions that attracted public attention and reactions.

Dahiru suggested that the public’s positive response to the Buhari administration during those periods was linked to actions taken by Osinbajo while exercising the powers of the president.

The security analyst’s comments also followed his discussion of the 2018 National Assembly siege, during which Department of State Services, DSS, operatives barricaded the complex.
