Yobe State Earns Widespread Recognition At Arewa Media Summit

Yobe State emerged as one of the standout participants at the successful conclusion of the Arewa Media Summit, receiving widespread recognition for its active engagement, insightful contributions and strong representation throughout the event.

A statement by Yusuf Ali who is the Focal Person Digital and Strategic Communication to Governor Buni said, the high-profile summit was held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, and was convened by Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Senior Special Assistant to President on Media and Public Enlightenment.

The gathering brought together leading journalists, media executives, digital content creators, social media influencers, filmmakers, communication experts, public relations practitioners and government media aides from across Northern Nigeria to deliberate on the evolving role of the media in promoting national unity, development and responsible public discourse.

The Yobe State delegation was led by Prof. Sheriff Almuhajir alongside the Yobe State APC Youth Leader, Hon. Mohammed Musa Gulani. His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni CON who was invited as a Special Guest of Honour, was to be represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mohammed Goje. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, Dr. Goje was unable to attend, while Prof. Sheriff Almuhajir represented the Yobe State Government at the summit.

The summit attracted several distinguished personalities, including the Governors of Kebbi, Jigawa, Kaduna, as well as other state government representatives from across the region.

The Chief Host, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, welcomed participants and formally declared the summit open.

A keynote address was delivered by the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, who underscored the critical role of the media in fostering national cohesion, combating misinformation, promoting responsible journalism and supporting the nation’s democratic and developmental aspirations.

Throughout the summit, Yobe State distinguished itself through meaningful participation in panel discussions, strategic engagements and intellectual contributions. Members of the delegation actively shared perspectives on digital communication, strategic media engagement, public enlightenment and the growing responsibility of the media in promoting peace, security and sustainable development across Northern Nigeria.

The impressive performance of the Yobe delegation further demonstrated the state’s commitment to strengthening strategic communication, embracing digital innovation and supporting initiatives that promote unity, informed public discourse and regional development.

As the summit concluded, Yobe State departed Kano with renewed partnerships, valuable professional networks and fresh ideas that will further enhance media practice, digital communication and public engagement in the state.

The successful participation of Yobe State at the Arewa Media Summit reinforces the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to effective communication, inclusive governance and active collaboration with media stakeholders in advancing the development of Yobe State and Northern Nigeria.
