Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, representing Southern Yobe in the Red Chamber has announced his decision to withdraw from the gubernatorial race in Yobe State.
This announcement comes as a result of extensive consultations and reflections on the collective aspirations for the state.
Speaking to a gathering of loyalist, political associates and community leaders, Sen. Bomai expressed profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for guiding him through this journey and for the unwavering support he received from the people of Yobe State.
He commended his supporters for their sacrifices, dedication and prayers throughout the campaign and acknowledged their contributions to a shared vision of growth and unity for the state at large.
Reflecting on the journey, Sen. Bomai stated that “While this outcome may not have aligned with the hopes and expectations of many of our supporters, I urge all of you to remain steadfast, calm, united and hopeful.”
He emphasized the importance of collective strength in overcoming temporary disappointments and reaffirmed his commitment to serving Yobe State with sincerity and dedication.
The senator’s decision to step down, while difficult, was made in the interest of the people of Yobe, reaffirming his long-term aspirations for quality representation, youth empowerment, improved healthcare, and enhanced economic opportunities.
Sen. Bomai reassured his supporters that the journey towards a better Yobe is far from over, and he remains committed to fostering unity and progress within the state.
He concluded his address with a call for continued faith and collaboration among the people of Yobe State, praying for guidance and blessings for the future.
As the political landscape in Yobe State evolves, Sen. Bomai’s withdrawal marks a significant moment in the gubernatorial race, prompting reflections on leadership and community engagement among constituents.
Earlier, Sen. Bomoi had maintained that he had reached an understanding that retains the consensus position of the party in the state.
According to a press statement by Mamman Mohammed, who is the DG, Press and Media Affairs to Governor Buni, Sen. Bomai made the assertion after a meeting with His Excellency, Gov. Mai Mala Buni at the Government House, Damaturu.
Bomoi, said “APC remains a united, indivisible party and we will remain united and work for the success of the party and aligns with the consensus arrangement of the party.
Responding, Gov. Buni commended the Senator for his understanding, care and deep concern for the state and the party.
He called on all other aspirants to emulate the Senator and build the party even stronger to approach the 2027 election with a united front.
