Tinubu Support Group Appoints Academics Across North As Members Amid Grumbles

By Our Correspondent
The desperation within Nigeria’s political class is escalating, with a recent incident in Kaduna exemplifying this trend coming as 2027 election campaigns gather momentum.
Investigation has uncovered that a group of professors, six selected from various universities in each state across the north, were invited to Kaduna to receive appointment letters as members of President Tinubu’s Support Group.
According to our sources, all of the professors from the states arrived in Kaduna on Friday, September 11, 2026, as directed and were accommodated at various hotels in Kaduna.
The following day (Saturday), they were gathered at the Multipurpose Sports Hall, at Murtala Square amid tight security where they were handed over their appointment letters, but not without them grumbling afterwards.
A source familiar with the matter revealed that it was not specifically clear what transpired between the organizers and the invitees after the letter presentation to the professors whose names remain anonimous.
It has also been gathered that the professors departed Kaduna feeling dissatisfied with the treatment meted against them which the claimed fell short of professorial status. They also perceived that they might end up being used to achieve some political ambition ahead of 2027.
Further investigation revealed that the Tinubu Support Group is aimed at portraying the academics as supportive of President Tinubu’s second term bid.
