Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has spoken out following his Premier League debut for the Red Devils, while manager Ruben Amorim praised his team despite a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, according to Manchester Evening News.
The 22-year-old Slovenian, signed from RB Leipzig for £74 million, replaced Mason Mount in the second half of United’s opening-day clash. Sesko was given a standing ovation by the Old Trafford crowd and showed glimpses of his attacking ability, although he was unable to find the net in his first appearance.
After the game, Sesko took to Instagram to express his pride and optimism, writing:
“Proud to make my debut at Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams. It wasn’t our day today, a tough and unlucky game, but we will keep pushing forward and giving our best together. This is only the beginning! Come on, @manchesterunited.”
Manager Ruben Amorim echoed Sesko’s sentiments, insisting that despite the narrow loss, United were the better team on the day.
Amorim went on to praise the team’s aggression, high pressing, and bravery, noting improvements compared to last season. He highlighted that players like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo could elevate the team’s attacking threat, and emphasized that while winning remains the ultimate goal, United are already showing progress in their style of play.
Sesko now looks ahead to United’s next Premier League fixture against Fulham at Craven Cottage, hoping to build on his debut and score his first goal for the club. With continued integration and playing time, the Slovenian forward is expected to become a key figure in Manchester United’s attack this season.
