By Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
It has been averred that for security forces to eliminate terrorism and other criminalities in the unflinching support of the communities must be guaranteed, Brigadier-General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd) who is the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor of Yobe State Mai Mala Buni has stated.
He stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Damaturu the state capital, saying that it is common knowledge that security situation is currently stable in Yobe State, except for a few attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in some areas – Bursari, Geidam, Yunusari and Gujba which were also foiled by the military and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
He added that Yobe State is a state with a very wide border with Niger Republic which facilitates the way in which the terrorists are carrying out their atrocities.
Therefore, it is imperative for the community to continue to cooperate with the security forces, especially by providing them with any movement of people who do not agree with their moves to overcome the situation as soon as possible, even though some communities in Yobe State are playing a good role in cooperating with the military, police and other security forces for exposing the terrorists movement.
Brigadier-General Dahiru Abdulsalam also assured the people of the state that as always, now, God willing, the elections will be held peacefully because there are provisions for everything that will be done in these areas, especially for people who are assigned to the polling units from other areas that are affected by insurgency such as Yunusari, Bursari, Tarmuwa, Geidam and Gujba whenever elections are held. They should not be afraid.
Therefore, “I am assuring you that Governor Mai Mala Buni who’s the chief security of the state, has made adequate provisions for the protection of the people with the help of God and the help of the security forces in the state.
