Obasanjo Asked Atiku To Chair The Committee But He Recused Himself And France Never Called Him — Sanni

Media associate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Olusola Sanni, has revealed that Atiku recused himself from the power investment process because he did not believe in the methodology being adopted at the time.

Speaking on Sunday Politics on Trust TV, Sanni said then President Olusegun Obasanjo asked Atiku to chair the committee on the power investment protocol, but the former vice president declined because he did not believe that was the way to go.

He said the former vice president therefore has absolutely nothing to do with the controversial investment, adding that the extensive tribunal trial in France would have called him if he had any role to play.

In Sanni’s words: “Obasanjo asked him to chair the committee on that investment protocol and he said because he doesn’t believe that this is the way to go, he recused himself of the role as chairman of National Economic Council into that investment.

“So he has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with that investment. If he had, this trial in France was extensive. It ran for years. It involved former president, former ministers. If Atiku had a role to play, that investigation would have called him.”
