The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has officially released its Calendar of Events for the January–September 2026 competitive season, outlining a comprehensive and strategically structured programme aimed at strengthening domestic competitions, expanding grassroots development and enhancing Nigeria’s continental presence.
Purveyor.com.ng reports that the 2026 calendar reflects the Federation’s renewed commitment to excellence, inclusivity, youth development and international competitiveness across indoor and beach volleyball disciplines.
A Season of Growth and Opportunity
The season commenced with the nationwide registration of clubs and players in January, reinforcing compliance, eligibility standards and structured participation within the national framework.
February and March will feature key national tournaments including:
Super Cup 2026
Presidential Cup Beach Volleyball
Nigeria Police Games
National Open/Star Tour
Premier League Phase I
These competitions are designed to deepen talent discovery, provide consistent competition platforms and ensure technical standardization across zones.
Strong International Engagement The Federation’s 2026 roadmap also places strong emphasis on continental and international participation. Nigerian clubs and national teams are scheduled to compete in:
CAVB Zone 3 Club Championship
African Clubs Championship (Men and Women)
Zone 3 Nations Cup
Africa Beach Continental U21 Championship
Nations Cup (Men and Women)
These engagements will not only enhance Nigeria’s ranking and visibility but also expose athletes and officials to elite competitive standards.
Beach Volleyball Expansion
Beach volleyball continues to receive strategic attention in 2026, with multiple national tours, youth championships, and continental qualifiers scheduled. The Federation remains committed to developing beach volleyball infrastructure and technical capacity nationwide.
Premier League and National Sports Festival
The Nigeria Premier Volleyball League will run in two phases, providing clubs with sustained competitive action throughout the season.
Additionally, the Federation will actively participate in the National Sports Festival, further promoting volleyball development at state and grassroots levels.
Commitment to Technical Excellence
To improve officiating standards, the Federation will host technical and referee development courses in collaboration with international bodies, ensuring Nigerian referees and officials remain globally competitive.
