NVBF Premier League A Vital Platform For Developing Volleyball In Nigeria – Nimrod

By Andrew Abah, Abuja
The President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has expressed gratitude to God and commended the Nigeria Customs Service for sustaining its sponsorship and support for the CGC Volleyball Premier League for three consecutive editions.
Nimrod described the competition as a vital platform for developing volleyball in Nigeria, expressing optimism that consistent investment and support would help the country achieve greater success on the international stage.
Drawing parallels with the progress recorded in beach volleyball, Nimrod expressed confidence that indoor volleyball could achieve similar milestones with sustained commitment and adequate resources.
“That is how we started beach volleyball, and today we are on our way to the Olympics, both at youth and senior levels. A similar thing is going to happen in indoor volleyball,” he said. He added: “It has not been easy, but we thank the Nigeria Customs Service for sponsoring and supporting this Premier League for the third consecutive time. We pray that this collaboration and partnership will continue.”
The volleyball federation president disclosed that attention would immediately shift to the Division One and Division Two competitions scheduled to hold in Abia State in November, ahead of the National Sports Festival.
He explained that the federation had also been requested to provide teams for the festival, including beach volleyball, describing the upcoming schedule as demanding. Nimrod also appreciated journalists, stakeholders and volleyball enthusiasts in Nigeria and beyond for their continued support of the sport.
Looking ahead, Nimrod revealed that the federation had lined up several programmes for the following year, including preparations for the Under-19 World Championship.
He explained that the country’s Under-18 players would require adequate preparation to compete effectively at the international tournament.
“Next year, our Under-18 players will be preparing for the Under-19 World Championship. We are going to look at how best to prepare them,” he said, adding, “We believe we have quite a lot of activities next year. There will be no rest, but we pray for more resources.”
