NUGA Games: KHAIRUN VC Restates Commitment To Athletes

The Vice Chancellor of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, KHAIRUN, Kano, Professor Abdulrashid Garba has described the participation of the institution in the ongoing 27th Nigerian University (NUGA) Games in Jos as a sign of its commitment to encouraging and supporting the athletes to excel.

Professor Garba stated this in an interview with newsmen shortly after the opening ceremony of the games on Saturday in Jos, the Plateau state capital.

He explained that sponsoring the university contingent will add more value academically and other aspects of human endeavours.

The Vice Chancellor added that competing among 91 universities and over 7000 athletes across the country is a welcome development as a private institution.

While applauding the university’s governing council, management and staff for their unwavering support and cooperation regarding ports development, he charged the students to reciprocate the gesture by projecting the good image of the institution within and outside the state.

Professor Garba, however, commended the executive members of NUGA and other stakeholders for their success in organizing the games.

Over 7000 athletes are currently competing in 23 events with 2000 match officials in this year’s edition.
