No, You Made Decisions Alone; Nigerians Only Paid Price For Your Reckless Actions — Atiku To Tinubu
In a recent post on Symfoni TV, former Vice President and Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the economic decisions of his administration, arguing that Nigerians were not part of the decisions but have been left to bear the consequences.
Atiku made the remarks while reacting to President Tinubu’s statement that his administration had made what he described as “hard decisions” in the course of governing the country.
Responding to the president’s position, Atiku said the decisions were made without the involvement of Nigerians, while the citizens have continued to experience the consequences.
“No, Bola. You made the decisions alone, not with Nigerians. The people have only paid the price for your reckless decisions,” Atiku said.
He further questioned the basis for describing the country’s current situation as a shared journey when, according to him, Nigerians had not been adequately informed about the burden they were carrying or what had happened to the promises made by the government.
“You cannot claim a shared journey while refusing to account for who has carried the burden and where the promises have gone,” he said.
Atiku’s comments came as part of his broader criticism of the federal government’s handling of the country’s economic situation. In the address, he also challenged the administration’s claims about the impact of its policies on ordinary Nigerians.
He argued that citizens were the ones experiencing the immediate effects of economic decisions, stressing that Nigerians were already dealing with the realities of the country’s economic conditions rather than waiting for promised future improvements.
The former vice president’s remarks centred on accountability and the need for the government to explain how its decisions have affected citizens and what has happened to the promises made to them.
His statement also formed part of a wider call for the government to provide Nigerians with clearer explanations about the costs and outcomes of its policies.
