After seven years of service, he was honourably discharged from the 93 Mechanised Infantry Battalion, Ojo Cantonment, having earned the respect of comrades and commanders alike.

To mark his birthday and long service, senior officers from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke paid a solidarity visit to Tafida in Jalingo.

Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, leading the delegation, praised Tafida’s legacy of discipline, courage and resilience, describing them as qualities that continue to inspire serving troops and veterans.

For his family, the celebration was particularly poignant. RSM Tafida is the father of Major General Henry Tafida Wesley, known affectionately by some as Wesley Snipes, a recently retired commander of the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps.

His son’s distinguished career stands as a testament to the legacy of service instilled by the elder Tafida.

The celebration of Tafida’s life and service comes as the nation reflects on the broader contributions of its Armed Forces.
