The Kebbi State Elders Consultative Forum (KECF), in collaboration with the state government, has organised an annual summit on economic development in order to serve as a guide for future policies, innovative investment and people-centred programmes that will uplift the brighter future for generations of the state.
Speaking during the opening of the summit held at Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, chairman of the Forum, Major-General Mohammed Magoro Rtd, who is also the Galadiman Zuru, said the essence of the annual submit is to bring together, policymakers, scholars, entrepreneurs, technocrats, traditional leaders and esteemed elders united by a common purpose to exchange ideas, forge partnership and chart practical pathways for sustainable development of the young state.
“You may wish to know that the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum was established in 1991 and soon after, the creation of Kebbi State with the conviction that wisdom and experience shall be harnessed for the good of the society and our role as Elders is to serve as advisors, unifiers, guiders, facilitators, bridge-builders and partners in progress for accelerated development of Kebbi State.”
Magoro said that therefore the Forum is ever-ready and committed to promoting unity, peace, progress and sustainable development of Kebbi State, he added.
Declaring of the submit open, Governor Nasir Idris commended the Forum for organising such an important gathering which, according to him, will foster unity in Kebbi.
Idris however, assured his administration’s readiness to continue with support in organising such important events in which people, particularly elites, will speak well about the laudable achievements recorded by the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor of Kebbi State.
Seven papers were expected to be presented by various scholars such as Professor Tijjani Bande, titled “Kebbi Ascends: Unlocking Opportunities for inclusive Growth And Sustainable Development in Kebbi State”; Professor Abdullahi MD Magaji with a paper titled “Agriculture As A Fundamental Pillar For Sustainable Development Of Kebbi State” and Dr. Salamatu Hussaini with a paper title “The Dependable Roles of Women And Youths In Achieving Sustainable Development”, among others.
