Following a violence which erupted between the APC supporters and their ADC counterparts in Jega town in Jega Local Government area of Kebbi State during a football match resulting in the destructions in the area, the All Progressive Congress (APC) has urged security agencies to investigate the remote causes of the crisis.
Briefing newsmen on Sunday at the state APC Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, the Publicity Secretary of the party, Isah Assalafi said that the ruling party has condemned in totality, the destructions as a result of the violence, alleging that it was caused by some supporters of the opposition party.
The publicity secretary, however, noted that Jega as a town, has a long history of active political participation and remains an important community within Kebbi State.
“Therefore, the actions of some minority must not be allowed to create a false imperative about the character of people in the area,” said Assalafi.
“We call on security agencies to make thorough investigation into the violence and establish facts surrounding it, identify those involved and make them to face the full weight of law,” he added.
Reports revealed that the violence occurred when some youths were playing a friendly football match in Jega at the weekend and at the end of the match, it was alleged that the Commissioner of Youths and Sports stated that Jega people must elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris in the forthcoming 2027 general elections which did not ugur well wuth some youths of opposition party.
