Abdulmumin Jibrin, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC), two months after his expulsion from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Jibrin, a close associate of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate and former Kano State governor, was expelled from the party in September over allegations of anti-party activities and non-payment of membership dues.
In a statement on Monday, Jibrin confirmed his defection back to the APC and declared his full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
He said he was received by a massive crowd of supporters in his hometown, Kofa, Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, where he publicly announced his exit from both the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
“In a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji. The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office,” Jibrin stated.
The event, according to him, was attended by over 2,000 Islamic clerics (Ulamas) who offered special prayers for the President, as well as for peace, progress, and development in Kano and across Nigeria.
Jibrin previously served as the Director-General of the Tinubu Support Groups, before leaving the APC for the NNPP in 2022.
