Iranian State TV Releases Video of Official in Underground Missile Production Facility
According to the Jerusalem Post, Iranian state television has released footage showing Major General Ali Abdollahi, chief of staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, visiting an underground facility involved in the production of ballistic and cruise missiles, drones and air-defense systems, as Tehran seeks to showcase the country’s military capabilities amid continuing tensions with the United States and Israel.
The footage, released on Saturday to coincide with Iran’s Defense Industry Day, showed Abdollahi touring sections of the underground complex and receiving briefings on weapons production. Iranian media described the facility as part of the country’s expanding defense-industrial infrastructure.
According to Iranian state media, Abdollahi said Iran’s defense production had improved substantially in both quality and quantity. The facility was reported to include production related to ballistic and cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles and air-defense systems.
“The enemy cannot fight against the determination of the Iranian nation,” Abdollahi said, according to the report.
Iranian state media also claimed that domestic production of suicide drones had tripled since the beginning of the war. Those claims could not be independently verified.
The public release of the footage appears intended to demonstrate that Iran retains significant weapons-production capacity despite military strikes and pressure on its defense industry. The video comes as Iranian officials have increasingly emphasized self-reliance and the ability to rapidly rebuild military capabilities.
In a separate message marking Defense Industry Day, Abdollahi described Iran’s defense-industrial development as a “deterrent defense industrial revolution.” He also warned that Iran’s armed forces were prepared to respond to threats across land, sea, air, air defense, space and cyberspace.
“I emphasize that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with comprehensive, intelligent and up-to-date readiness in all areas ground, naval, air, air defense, space and cyber will confront any miscalculation and conventional or modern threats by the enemies with revolutionary, forceful, regret-inducing and devastating responses,” he said.
The latest footage also comes amid renewed international scrutiny of Iran’s missile and drone capabilities. Analysts and foreign officials have been assessing how much of Iran’s military-industrial infrastructure survived the fighting and how quickly Tehran has been able to restore production.
The release therefore carries both a military and political message. By publicly displaying an underground production complex and senior military officials inside it, Tehran is signaling that its weapons programs remain active and that efforts to degrade its defense industry have not eliminated its ability to manufacture missiles and drones.
At the same time, independent verification of the facility’s location, production capacity and the quantities of weapons being manufactured remains limited.
The footage is likely to add to concerns in Washington, Jerusalem and other regional capitals about Iran’s ability to regenerate its missile forces, particularly as tensions remain high and Iranian officials continue to warn that any new military action would receive a severe response.
