In 2009 US Said There’s No Evidence Atiku Accepted Bribe From William Jefferson – Okonkwo
The spokesperson for former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Kenneth Okonkwo, has alleged that a United States court proceedings clearly established that Atiku did not receive any bribe from former US Congressman William Jefferson.
Speaking on Channels TV, Okonkwo said, “The Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs exonerated his excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
And they said it clearly in their own report that Congressman William Jefferson was was not in collude with the Vice President. In 2009, the United States exonerated him and said there is no evidence that his excellency, Atiku Abubakar sought or accepted a bribe from the Congressman,” he said.
Okonkwo went further, stating that documentary evidence on file also shows no indication that the full US Senate sanctioned Atiku for any wrongdoing.
He said all wire transfers made by Atiku to his wife for her upkeep and personal purchases in the United States are fully documented and accounted for.
