I’ll Uphold Democratic Principles, Allow Healthy Competition – Bauchi Gov Assures Citizens

By Usman Walin Gungura, Bauchi

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has re-echoed commitment to completing ongoing projects and sustaining good governance despite political transitions, financial constraints, and recent developments within the state’s political landscape.

Governor Mohammed made this known as he presided over the State Executive Council meeting at the Council Chamber of the Government House, Bauchi, where he said the period between February and now is challenging, following the political transition from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in compliance with court rulings.

According to him “despite the distractions, the administration remained focused on governance, project execution, and service delivery to the people of the state.”

Governor Mohammed, commended members of the Executive Council and other political allies who remained loyal during the transition period, noting that their commitment reflected unity and collective responsibility in leadership.

He also appreciated the APM for accommodating members of the former PDP structure, and wished those who resigned to pursue elective positions well.

He unfolded that dwindling revenue inflows, unfulfilled borrowing plans, and delays in federal allocations have affected the state’s financial strength and budget performance.

He informed that the administration has continued to manage resources prudently and ensured that no government project will be abandoned.

The Governor said the administration was now placing renewed emphasis on education, alongside ongoing investments in roads, healthcare, and other critical sectors, despite existing financial gaps.

He disclosed that the Council would also deliberate on reports and white papers concerning administrative panels of inquiry, financial misappropriation investigations, and reforms aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability in governance.

Governor Bala Mohammed assured citizens that his administration would continue to uphold democratic principles by allowing healthy political competition and maintaining tolerance across party lines, stressing that government would not use state power to intimidate political opponents.
