The Northern Elders Political Development Group (NEPDG) has cautioned politicians and other people in the northwest zone of the country against making provocative comments on social media platforms and other conventional media on persons, particularly those holding political office.

The call was made on Sunday by National Coordinator of the Group who is also the Chairman of the Kebbi 2025 Sitting, Malam Yusuf Abubakar, at a news conference after their 10th Meeting held at the Saffar Guest House in Birnin Kebbi.

He attributed such provocative comments to high profiled individuals in the government who are unpatriotic and disciplined in the society.

Citing example, Abubakar said the forum was angry about the attitude of two politicians in Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Marafa and Abdullahi Shinkafi for always condemning the efforts of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

“Now is time that the DSS should invite Senator Kabiru Marafa on his outburst and his desire for invasion of this country by the US which he did out of sheer unpatriotic stance and honestly he needs to go for a psychiatric diagnosis to check his mental wellbeing,” said the NEPDG National Coordinator.

“Weather Marafa likes it or not, Matawalle has done well in his capacity of Minister of State for Defence, especially as regards to his efforts in securing 24 GGCSS Maga schoolgirls unhurt from the hands of bandits,” he added.

The Group however, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle in view of their efforts in securing agents who freed the abducted students of Maga without any loss of life.

The Group also called on Northern leaders, especially governors and those in position of authority to create synergy on how to tackle insecurity and poverty in the northwest zone and other regions of the country.

The Group, while commending the federal government’s efforts, for its relentless commitment in fighting insecurity, especially Operation Fansan Yamma and the numerous strategies being carried out by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle and that of NSA, Nuhu Ribadu along with the gallant security operatives in order to safeguard and secure the country.

He called on security agents to investigate some politicians in Zamfara, Katsina and other places where media outlets are being stuffed with fake news to create tension and instability among populace through mischief, lies and propaganda against particular individuals.
