Gov Idris Flags Off Distribution Of 600,000 Metric Tonnes Of Fertilizer To Farmers

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has, Wednesday evening flagged-off the distribution of 600,000 metric tonnes of NPK fertilizer for 2026 farming season in the state.

Speaking during the occasion at the Haliru Abdu Stadium, Governor Idris informed the gathering that government has procured the fertilizer in order to meet up with the target in this year’s farming season so as to record a successful cultivation by farmers across the state.

He said the distribution will cover 3,743 polling units of the state and 1,200 are expected to benefit from the sharing.

According to the governor, every farmer in mentioned polling unit will receive bags of fertilizer allocated from the committee of distribution free of charge.

In addition, the governor added that the farmers will receive one 1,000 seeds from the committee to enhance their farming activities.

He called on traditional and religious leaders to help the government in monitoring the distribution of the fertilizer across the designated areas and polling units in the state.

The governor also noted that the fertilizer is mainly for farming to enhance food security, warning that anyone caught diverting or selling it would be arrested and protected.
