Flocking Landlord In Akwa Ibom Lands In Police Cell

A landlord identified as Ekong Henry in Akwa Ibom State is cooling his feet in Police custody for allegedly assaulted his tenant during domestic dispute.

According to a statement by DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, the assault has caused some bodily harm to his 31-year-old female tenant, who reported the matter to the Police.

The statement stated that, “on 31st March 2026, at about 6:45pm one Rachael, female, aged 31 years, reported at the Police Station that her landlord, identified as Ekong Henry, male, allegedly assaulted her during an argument over a misunderstanding.

“Preliminary information indicates that in the course of the altercation, the suspect allegedly armed himself with a sharp object and attacked the victim. As a result of the assault, she sustained injuries to her head and left arm, with significant blood loss.

“Upon receipt of the report, Police operatives swiftly moved into action. The victim was immediately rushed to a medical facility where she is currently receiving treatment, while the suspect was promptly arrested.”

While investigation into the incident has commenced, the Police Command has condemned all forms of violence, particularly acts capable of causing grievous bodily harm.

Members of the public are advised to always seek peaceful means of resolving disputes and report grievances to appropriate authorities rather than resorting to violence.

The Command has reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities or threats to the nearest police station.

The suspect who may be charged to Court on Tuesday, 7th April, 2027, works with a private security outfit in the state.
