Fire Guts SRRBRDA MD’s Residence In Kebbi

A section of the residence of the Managing Director of the Sokoto Rima River Basin ana Rural Development (SRRBRDA), Abubakar Malam Shattiman Gwandu in Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, has been gutted by fire.

The fire outbreak, according to an eye witness, Malam Zubairu Tatu who is a neighbour to the MD, the fire started around 3:00am up to 5:00am on Monday before the fire Service Service put it off.

“It was terrible that we woke up from sleep to discover the fire flames coming from the roof of the MD’s house around 3:00am. We had to jump over the fence on rescue mission before the arrival of Fire Service,” Tatu said.

We also evacuated all our properties in our rooms in our compound behind the MD’s house to outside for survival ” he added.

Sympathisers comprising the Secretary to the Kebbi State government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, top government officials, politicians and journalists stormed the house to sympathise with the MD over the unfortunate incident.

The MD who conducted round, journalists to assess damage done, disclosed that there was no life lost but households and other belongings worth unspecified amount of money were destroyed by the inferno.

He thanked all those who visited and sympathized with him, including those who called him or sent message to him over the incident.
