An explosion hit Mubang village in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Wednesday afternoon, triggering renewed fear in a community still reeling from recent Boko Haram attacks.
Residents said the blast occurred at about 2:00 p.m. sending people fleeing in panic. No casualties were reported.
“We thank God that nobody was killed,” one resident told newsmen while fleeing the area.
On December 28, 2025, the residents of Zah and Mubang communities in Yadul, Garaha District of Hong LGA were mourning after a deadly attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents that claimed at least 14 lives and left two others injured.
According to residents, the attackers invaded the communities at about 6:16 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, killing both elders and youths during the assault.
Confirming the latest explosion, the Chairman of Hong Local Government Council, Usman Inuwa, said he was informed of the incident shortly after it occurred.
The explosion comes amid renewed terrorist activities in the area.
Residents said the latest blast has heightened fears that insurgents may be planting explosive devices in the area, raising concerns over safety and the effectiveness of ongoing security operations as communities struggle to recover from repeated attacks.
