EVE vs MNU: How Manchester United Could Line Up Against Everton
According to a report by Sky Sports on Monday, August 31, 2026, Manchester United are preparing to return to Premier League action with a challenging trip to face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Michael Carrick is expected to select a strong side as the Red Devils aim to build on their recent win and secure another important three points.
United could continue with a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Senne Lammens likely to remain in goal after keeping his place in the team.
Diogo Dalot could be handed the role at right-back, while Luke Shaw may occupy the left side of the defence. Harry Maguire and Lisandro MartÃnez are expected to partner each other in the centre. Both defenders performed well during Manchester United’s 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town, and Carrick could decide to keep the same combination for the Everton match.
Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans could form the midfield partnership. Mainoo may be tasked with providing protection in front of the defence and helping United recover possession, while Tielemans could play a more influential role in moving the ball forward and linking play from deeper positions.
Bruno Fernandes is likely to operate in the attacking midfield role behind the centre-forward. The United captain produced an outstanding performance against Ipswich, scoring a hat-trick and registering an assist. His creativity, experience and influence could once again be crucial for Carrick’s side.
Bryan Mbeumo could keep his place on the right wing after contributing in the previous match, with Marcus Rashford potentially starting from the left. Rashford’s speed and direct running could give United an important option, particularly when breaking quickly against Everton.
Matheus Cunha could lead the attack after also playing a part in United’s goals against Ipswich. His movement and ability to combine with Fernandes, Rashford and Mbeumo could give Everton’s defence plenty to deal with.
Manchester United’s possible starting XI could be: Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, MartÃnez, Shaw; Mainoo, Tielemans; Mbeumo, Fernandes, Rashford; Cunha.
