Coach Maikaba Dumps Wikki Tourists, Says ‘My Life’s Threatened’

The Technical Adviser of Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi, Abdul Maikaba has resigned from the service of the club for obvious reasons.

Coach Maikaba in a resignation letter signed and submitted to the club chairman on Monday, 9th – February 2026, informed that disunity and threats to his life was responsible for tendering the resignation.

According to him, “I will like to use this opportunity to notify the management of Wikki Tourists FC of my decision to resign as the technical adviser of the club with immediate effect”.

Maikaba who served the team under the chairmanship of Abdullahi Matori, 2015/2016 football season and endung in the 3rd position, before moving to Akwa United, returned to the club in 2024/2025 football season after Wikki was relegated to NNL. Upon his return he led the team to gain promotion from NNL last year to NPFL 2025/2026 football season, but today battling to survive relegation with 29 points in their kitty, in the 15th position after 25 matches.

The technical adviser said his decision to leave became necessary due to the disunity among different stakeholders of the team which makes it very difficult to achieve the set objectives of the club.

He added that the safety of his life was second reason that influenced his decision to resign following series of threats to his life in the course of carrying out this responsibility, from some sections of the fans, either through physical attack or through social media platforms.

”For these reasons I was forced to take the decision to quit after consulting my family members and professional associates,” he revealed.

He expressed gratitude and thanks to Bauchi State Government and management of the club for the opportunity given him to serve and achieve what he has achieved in the team so far.
