A Kano-based Chinese lady golfer, Angel Xing Huiyao has emerged winner of the maiden Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) President’s Cup 2025.
Over 100 ladies and men golfers from across Nigeria competed for laurels at the venue, Kano Club Golf Section.
The winners in various categories were trophies, certificates and decorated with tournament memorabilia.
Reacting to her victory, Angel Xing Huiyao, dedicated the trophy to all the members of Kano Club Golf Section for their support and cooperation.
Angel expressed her readiness to continue to undergo vigorous training sessions to sustain her present form with the aim to retain impressive performance in future state and national competitions.
She said “this milestone not only elevated her to fame, but also shattered gender barriers in a male dominated sports event, in the state”.
Huiyao appealed by saying “I’m appealing to ladies in the state to come out and embrace the game of golf, in order to develop and promote the game, as well as improve our health status.
“I just trained for two months in the Golf Section, but remained focused, in what I was doing and I thank God for what I have achieved within this period under the watch of my coach, Suleiman,” Angel said.
The champion applauded those who contributed to her success, saying their contributions would rub off towards raising the flag of Kano Golf Section and would also boost the profile of the state.
It would be recalled that the Kano Golf Section, established in 1908, has produced national and international golfer stars such as Lawan Malam, who played alongside Tiger Woods, during the British Open Golf Tournament in 2002 amongst others.
