Bello Turji: I Don’t Know Why We Have Not Been Able To Use Technology To Track These People – Modibbo

Ibrahim Modibbo, a public affairs analyst, has questioned the inability of security agencies to effectively deploy technology in tracking notorious bandits such as Bello Turji and Ardo Aliero, amid renewed discussions over peace deals with bandits in Katsina State.

Modibbo raised the concern during an interview on Trust TV on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, while analysing the renewed efforts to negotiate peace with bandit groups and the challenges confronting security agencies in dealing with prominent criminal figures operating across the region.

Speaking about the continued activities of notorious bandits, Modibbo expressed surprise that authorities had not, over the years, been able to make greater use of technological tools to locate and apprehend them.

“For very obvious reasons, I don’t know why for all this long we have not been able to use technology to track down these people.”

His comment comes amid continued concerns over insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, where banditry has remained a major challenge for communities and security agencies.

The debate over negotiations with bandits has also continued, with proponents arguing that dialogue could help reduce attacks and restore stability in affected communities, while critics question whether such arrangements provide a lasting solution to insecurity.
