Bauchi win NSSF Volleyball Tournament

…As President tasks federal, states, local govts on schools sports

Bauchi state government has commended its state volleyball team for emerging winners of the just concluded national volleyball competition for secondary schools boys and girls held in Lagos.

The Bauchi state volleyball team defeated Lagos 2-1 in an interesting final encounter to emerge champions.

The tournament which is being organized by the Nigerian School Sports Federation NSSF under the leadership of Mrs Olabisi Joseph attracted over 25 states in attendance.

Speaking during a reception organized in honour of the victorious Bauchi state contingent, the state Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim (Chikason Bauchi) described their performance as wonderful.

The commissioner said that this historical achievement has brought immense pride and honour to the state, reiterating that the state government’s commitment and support towards the overall development of various sporting activities across the state is assured.

”The team’s outstanding performance, resilience and discipline throughout the tournament are clear reflection of your commitment to excellence and effective coordination,” he explained.

He also applauded the state Deputy Director in the Ministry, Malam Bala Maijama’a Umar for his dedication and commitment to the development of sports in schools, urging him to sustain the tempo.

Earlier, during the closing ceremony, the President of the Nigerian School Sports Federation NSSF, Mrs Olabisi Joseph described sports as a key factor that contributed positively towards nation building.

The President called on federal, states and local government councils as well as multi-corporate organisations to support the NSSF in order to actualize the set objectives countrywide.

She thanked the schools authorities and all the stakeholders for their maximum support and cooperation towards the development of the Federation.
