The National Chairman of the African Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda is on a 2-week vacation outside Nigeria.
His media aide, Abimbola Tooki confirmed it earlier this September, saying “it was to rest after his first year in office and prepare for 2027.”
Party sources said he will complete the break despite the raging Wike vs APC Governors crisis.
Like the APC chairman, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike is also out of the country. Wike himself said in a statement via one of his aides, Lere Olayinka: “I am outside Nigeria, resting and relaxing after spending over 30 days, commissioning projects…” So he confirmed he is abroad on rest.
Contrary to reports in some quarters that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN is also abroad, it has not been confirmed as such, because there is no official report indicating that the INEC Chairman has travelled abroad.
Unlike the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and the APC Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda (both confirmed abroad on vacation/rest), Prof. Amupitan has not been confirmed as also travelled out of the country.
He has just conducted bye-elections on 19th September 2026.
The INEC Chairman, reports say, is in the country and is billed to deliver the keynote at the GOCOP Conference in Lagos on 8th October, 2026.
As regards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it would be recalled that he has already been on a 3-week vacation to Europe.
Tinubu was supposed to travel for the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) – 22-28 September in New York, but due to last minute shift in plans, Vice President, Kashim Shettima is, instead, representing the President again for the third time (2024, 2025 and 2026).
The VP has already jetted out leading a delegation to the UNGA.
