… CP Warns Against Corruption

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has deployed 500 officers and men for election duties in Anambra State, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, while addressing the 500 contingent at the Police Headquarters in Ikot Akpanabia on Tuesday, stressed the needs for them to exhibit high level of good conducts during the discharge of the assigned duties to Anambra.
He charged them to present themselves as the ambassadors of the Nigeria Police by shunning any act of corruption and malpractices while discharging their duties.
According to CP Azare, anyone of them who is found wanting by violating the Nigeria Police Acts and regulations would be decisively dealt with.
“As you are going there, remember to be ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force. The IGP’s Social Media Policy is still in force, anyone of you who violates this policy will be penalized.
“The vehicles to convey you to and from Anambra State for the election have been fully paid for by the IGP, Koyode Adeolu Egbetokun.
“We expect a high level of discipline, shun all corruption tendencies. Don’t engage in any malpractices. Keep strictly to the conditions of your duty as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Police Acts and Regulations.
“As I said, the IGP will not tolerate any kind of indiscipline and corruption while on the assigned duties. The Command will not hesitate to take a decisive action against anyone who indulges in untoward activities. Be the ambassadors of Nigeria Police Force by being highly disciplined and technical,” CP Azare warned.
Responding to questions on the security effects that the deployment of 500 personnel from Akwa Ibom State Command may cost the state, CP Azare said there was no cause for alarm.
According to him, “Akwa Ibom State has over 7,000 police officers and men on ground. Taking 50O out is just like a drop of water in the ocean.”
He reiterated the commitment of the Police Command in the state to make it a no-hiding-place for criminals and their sponsors.
