Iran reportedly suspends freight charge on foreign vessels carrying energy products to, from Iran

According to a report by the Times of Israel on Thursday September 10, 2026, Iran has suspended a 10 percent freight charge imposed on foreign vessels transporting oil, gas and liquefied petroleum products to and from the country, the semi-official Fars news agency says.

The decision comes as Iran faces growing disruption to its maritime energy trade following a US naval blockade. The blockade has significantly affected the country’s ability to ship oil overseas, putting additional pressure on an already strained export network.

The suspension applies to freight fees for foreign vessels involved in both imports and exports of the affected energy products. It could ease some of the costs associated with moving cargo through Iran’s maritime routes as the country deals with restrictions on seaborne trade.

The move also comes at a time when Tehran is facing increasing difficulty maintaining its normal flow of oil exports by sea, with the US blockade sharply limiting its ability to move energy cargoes abroad.
