Why Is Atiku Tormenting Tinubu With 1993 US Court Records? “…Because Atiku Helped Him Out In 2007” – Ahmed
According to a video posted on Mic On Podcast on Sunday September 6, 2026, Senator Datti Ahmed Baba questioned why former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has continued to raise President Bola Tinubu’s past legal records in the United States, suggesting the two men have a history dating back to 2007 that should have prevented such attacks.
Speaking on the Mic On Podcast, Baba-Ahmed raised the matter while discussing the ongoing civil court case in the United States involving Tinubu’s past records.
He framed his comments as a question rather than a firm accusation, asking the audience to consider the history between the two politicians before drawing conclusions about the current dispute.
In his words, Datti Ahmed Baba said, “way back in 2007, when they were friends with Baba Atiku, did Atiku help him out or did he not help him out? Why is Atiku at the forefront of tormenting Tinubu with his records in 1993? Why did he — is it because he helped him in the past?” he said, posing the question directly to the host during the interview.
Baba-Ahmed did not provide further details or documentation to support the claim of a specific favour exchanged between the two men in 2007.
He used the point as part of a wider argument that many of Nigeria’s political rivalries are shaped by old alliances and personal history rather than clear ideological differences.
He said several politicians now positioned as rivals for the 2027 election have, at various points, been aligned with each other or with the same political structures they now criticise.
