Adeleke Called Me: “They Have Arrested My SSG”, I Called IGP, The Next Day The SSG Was Released – Kukah

Bishop Matthew Kukah has revealed how Governor Ademola Adeleke contacted him after his Secretary to the State Government was arrested during the Osun State governorship election, prompting him to contact the Inspector General of Police, after which the SSG was released the following day.

In a video shared by SYMFONI TV, Kukah made this known during the signing of the peace accord ahead of the 2027 presidential election, while explaining how the agreement contributed to managing tensions during the recently concluded Osun election.

He said Adeleke frequently contacted him after the peace accord was signed, reporting incidents of violence and arrests. Kukah said he would then pass the reports to the IGP, who he described as being responsive to his calls.

He recalled that when Adeleke informed him about the arrest of his SSG, he immediately contacted the IGP, and the official was released the next day.

Kukah also said Adeleke later reported that 87 people had been arrested and taken to Abuja. He said he again contacted the police chief while continuing to encourage the governor.

According to Kukah, the experience showed that the peace accord created an avenue for political leaders to seek help and communicate quickly with security authorities when problems arose.

He said the major lesson from the Osun election was that speaking up and seeking help during periods of violence was important.

In his words, “He said, ‘ Look, they have arrested my secretary to government; I called IG; the next day, the SSG was released. He said they have arrested 87 people; they brought them to Abuja. I called the IGP; he responded.”
