ABU To Represent Nigeria At ENACTUS World Cup November In Brazil

After emerging as the national champions at ENACTUS Nigeria National Competition, Ahmadu Bello University will represent Nigeria at the 2026 ENACTUS World Cup in Sao Paulo, Brazil this November.

This was revealed through a statement by the Public Affairs Directorate, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria on Tuesday, 18th August, 2026.

The university earned the rights to represent Nigeria when ENACTUS ABU team emerged as Champions at the 2026 ENACTUS national competition, the statement added. ENACTUS stands for Entrepreneurial, Action, and Us.

The victory qualified the team to represent the country at the global competition where teams from 36 ENACTUS countries around the world will showcase their projects.

The 2026 ENACTUS Nigeria National Competition took place at the Civic Centre, Lekki in Lagos from 11th to 15th August, 2026.

“The competition brought together ENACTUS teams from universities across Nigeria who presented their entrepreneurial and social innovation projects before a panel of academic, business, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.

“ENACTUS ABU team emerged as the 2026 national champions after competing against several other teams from universities and polytechnics across the country.

“The team’s project this year focused largely on addressing challenges across the tomato agricultural value chain, particularly pre-harvest pest infestation and post-harvest losses.

The Faculty Advisor, ENACTUS ABU team, Prof. M.K. Aliyu, mni, said the victory marked a significant milestone for the university, the team, and the communities that were impacted through the team’s project.

He attributed the team’s success to the result of months of research, community engagement, product development, farmer training, partnership building and the dedication of students, alumni, mentors, partners, and the university community.

“As we prepare to represent the university and Nigeria on the global stage, we dearly and deeply seek the continued support of ABU management to project the university in this positive enterprise”, he said.

Aliyu appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and University Management for the continued support for student innovation and entrepreneurship programme.

He also acknowledged the support of ICERFE, NAERLS, East-West Seed Nigeria, IAR, and the Department of Crop Protection whose technical expertise, and research support strengthened the team’s project and helped greatly in moving the students ideas from concept to impact.

The Faculty Advisor, Prof. M.K. Aliyu, mni, led the team leaders and over 150 other members of the team to the competition in Lagos.

The student leaders included Abdulfattah O. Omisanya, Team Leader; Augustine Onoja, Project Manager; and George O. Otegwu, Secretary General.

Others were Hajara Abdulmumin, Financial Secretary; Mohammad Kabiru Umar, Technical Director; and Peace John, Social Media Officer.
