Akwa Ibom Police Nabs Suspects Linked To Murder, Kidnap In Etinan

Two suspected armed robbers linked to murder and kidnapping in Ikot Itienang Village, Ekom Eman, Etinan Local Government Area of the state on July 12, 2026, have been arrested.

Police said their arrest followed a petition to the Command which aided investigation by detectives into the crime.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, on Friday, stated that the investigation led to the arrest of suspects identified as Gospel Effiong, aka “Python,” and Solomon Okon, aka “Plane.”

“In the course of the investigation, two other suspects were also arrested in connection with the crime. They are Musa Kabiru, a native of Plateau State, alleged to be a recipient of some of the stolen items, alongside one Victor Dickson,” the statement added.

During a search at the residence of Solomon Okon, a locally made pistol with one cartridge; a large quantity of substance, suspected to be Indian Hemp; red cap bearing the inscription “Supreme Red Skin Confraternity”; item suspected to be charm; and other incriminating items relevant to the ongoing investigation were recovered.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, ha meanwhile, commended the detectives for their diligence, professionalism and intelligence-led approach to the investigation.

CP Azare reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, and ensuring that persons involved in violent crimes are identified, apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law.

He called on members of the public to continue providing the Police with credible and timely information that could assist in tracking down fleeing suspects and preventing criminal activities across the state.
