Kebbi Hisbah Records, Treat 4,173 Cases In 3 Years

The Hisbah Agency under the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Kebbi State has said that it recorded and treated 4,173 different various cases between 2023 and 2026.

State Commissioner for Ministry of Religious Affairs, Arch. Muhammed Sani Aliyu revealed this on Monday at a media briefing organised by the Ministry of Information and Culture held at the Conference Hall of the ministry.

He mentioned the various cases which includes 1,496 cases on marriage/community disputes reconciliation, 189 of children that were lost and found, 57 alleged rape, 52 children that were lost but, not found, 42 girls who were forced to marriage and seven alleged homosexuals.

Others are 1,253 on liquor and drugs, 271 persons caught on immoral act, 98 on court referred cases and 17 hemp and shisha smokers as well as 37 on theft.

The rest were 169 young and married women caught in hotels or rest houses, 132 girls camped in houses by men without the knowledge of their parents or guardians, 114 cases of pregnancy without marriage, 43 insane people or lunatics caught and hospitalised, 27 women found in the bushes being possessed by spirits or jinns, and nine marriages contracted with pregnancy.

According to him, the agency’s officials were operating with the mandate of the ministry and the support of security agencies of the state.

Arch. Aliyu added that the its aim and mission is to ensure people become good ambassadors in the societies.
